Job Title: General Operative
Base Location : Unit 17, Cherry Orchard Industrial Estate, Dublin 10, D10 VX93
Accountable to: Crew Supervisor
Duration: Full time appointment, subject to satisfactory probationary period

Job Purpose

Greentown Environmental Ltd are seeking to recruit General Operatives to operate out of their Southern Division located at Cherry Orchard Industrial Estate, Dublin 10.

Key Tasks:

The successful candidate will initially carry out works within the company's Traffic Management division assisting in the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary traffic management systems through various methods, such as:

  • Stop/Go Systems
  • 2/3/4 Way Traffic Lights
  • Lane & Road Closures
  • Hard Shoulder Closures
  • Contraflow Systems

These works will be throughout the Dublin areas and surrounding counties. The postholder will undertake these duties for a period of time, before commencing weed control duties with our Foamstream machines for a major public sector client.

The postholder will be a confident, reliable, and punctual individual with a proactive approach to their work. Full on the job training will be provided and so the postholder requires no previous weed control, grounds maintenance or traffic management experience, but will be a quick learner with a willingness to learn new things. The postholder will be a hardworking individual and work well in a fast-paced team environment by contributing to their team on a daily basis whilst also ensuring they are compliant with all company policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in the operation of both manual and mechanical equipment within the following areas:
    • Weed Control
    • Grounds Maintenance
    • Winter Maintenance
    • Tree Maintenance
  • Operate any other mechanical equipment as and when required
  • Carry out routine maintenance of equipment
  • Co-operate fully with instructions and advice given by the Supervisory and Management Team
  • Listen carefully to the directions of the Divisional Manager and Crew Supervisor and carry out those directions as instructed
  • Operate in a professional and safe manner at all times
  • Be Risk Aware and have the ability to identify and implement safe systems of work
  • Carry out a range of duties in accordance with Company standards and contract specifications
  • Ensure that all personal protective equipment is worn during the operation of manual and mechanical machinery
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, the Integrated Management System and your own General Terms and Conditions of Employment

Desirable Criteria

  • Category BE Licence (Trailer)
