GREENTOWN TO MANAGE CLANML GREEN SPACES
Clanmil Housing Group has awarded Greentown Environmental Ltd the contract to carry out grounds maintenance, landscaping and tree surgery at the housing association’s 180 sites across Northern Ireland.
The family run Fermanagh based company, which also has bases in Magherafelt and Lisburn, will be responsible for keeping the green spaces around Clanmil’s 5,300 plus homes looking their best, initially for the next 3 years, and potentially for a total of 7 years.
The contract, which could be worth up to £800K, also includes grounds maintenance at Abbeyfield & Wesley’s 24 housing schemes for older people in Northern Ireland as part of a service arrangement with Clanmil.
Clanmil awarded the contract to Greentown Environmental after a competitive tender exercise which included meeting Clanmil tenants and demonstrating the latest back office technology and “quiet” electric battery powered equipment.
The contract also includes enhanced social value provisions which will see Greentown contributing to the Clanmil Community Fund, which supports community led activities in the neighbourhoods where Clanmil works, as well as the association’s community cohesion and good relations work.
Tony Giffen, Group Director of Assets at Clanmil, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Greentown Environmental to the Clanmil team. The green spaces at our housing schemes are very important to the people who live there and to the communities surrounding our homes. We are looking forward to working with Greentown to ensure Clanmil’s developments remain attractive places to live.
“Maintaining our sites in an environmentally sensitive way is a major priority for Clanmil. Greentown will be helping us implement our new environmental strategy through initiatives such as establishing composting facilities, supporting our residents’ gardening initiatives, supporting habitats and planting wildflowers and nectar rich plants.”
John-Ross Armstrong, Managing Director at Greentown Environmental said:
“Greentown are delighted to be working with Clanmil and Abbeyfield & Wesley housing associations. We have been working in the industry for over 10 years now and are committed to providing a personal service with professional results. Our employees take pride in their work and care for our clients’ properties as if they were their own.
“We are conscious of our impact on the environment. We have made substantial investment in our range of equipment and have been involved with setting up other initiatives that help make our services as environmentally friendly as possible, something we know is also very important to both housing associations. Securing a contract of this nature has helped us create employment opportunities, given us the chance to give back to the community, and also helped us grow our business further across Northern Ireland.”
